Cecil Ainsworth (played by Mark Umbers): Despite his relentless efforts to capitalize on shady deals and agreements, Cecil finds himself in yet another trying predicament by the conclusion of the season finale. After setting up a game of poker that he believes is fixed in his favor (spoiler alert: it’s not), he ends up gambling away the deed of the hotel… only to lose it to Victor, Alice’s fiance. (Turns out Danioni isn’t Cecil’s buddy after all). Following his reckless stint at the casino, Bella wants nothing more to do with her husband and goes on to tell him that the deed she had him sign earlier wasn’t valid after all – meaning the hotel ownership is, and never was, in his hands.

Bella Ainsworth (played by Natascha McElhone): Unbeknownst to Cecil, Bella sells her controlling shares of the hotel to her dear friend Carlo as a way to protect the business from Danoini. With the hotel’s security finally settled, and Cecil no longer in the picture (hurrah!), it looks as though Bella may have a chance to pursue a future romantic relationship with Marco.

Rose Drummond-Ward (played by Claude Scott-Mitchell): Rose returns to the Italian seaside to reunite with her husband, Lucian, in the hopes of remedying their relationship. However, she soon accidentally discovers that Lucian and Constance are romantically involved. Instead of confronting Lucian, Rose lets off steam by getting drunk at the casino’s opening night. The final blow for Rose comes when Lucian tells her he’s not in love with her. This comment, compounded with the level of scrutiny she still feels from her mother, pushes Rose to make a drastic decision…

Lucian Ainsworth (played by Oliver Dench): While guests and party goers enjoy the fun and entertainment of the casino’s opening night, Lucian is consumed with worry about the fate of Nish’s safety. His evening turns even further sour after he finally admits to Rose that he doesn't love her, a statement that is impossible to retract and will have devastating, lasting consequences.

Constance March (played by Louisa Binder): Bella and Betty finally tell Constance that her mother has fallen seriously ill and is no longer in a fit state to care for Constance’s son, Tommy. As Constance makes plans to return home immediately, she catches a moment with Lucian who’s upset about her departure. Their relationship must be put on hold while Constance deals with affairs back in England.

Alice Mays-Smith (played by Olivia Morris): Heading into the series finale, it looked like things were all tidy and sorted between Alice and her fiance, Victor. However, after Victor wins over the deed to Hotel Portofino in a fixed game of cards, more information about the suave Swissman finally comes to light. Carlo confronts Victor and tells him he knows that he is a fraud and is a wanted man in three jurisdictions. Victor takes up Carlo’s offer to escape without trouble in exchange for returning the deed to the Ainsworths. In the end, Alice is relieved to have avoided marriage with such a man — and realizes her true feelings lie with Carlo.
