Violet (Annabelle Apsion) is somewhat preoccupied now that she’s decided to stand for mayor and with Matthew’s (Olly Rix) encouragement is going flat out to make it happen. However, both she and Fred (Cliff Parisi) start worrying about whether Fred is really cut out to be the Mayor’s consort.
Reggie (Daniel Laurie) comes home for a few weeks holiday and helps Fred to make-over the small unkempt green space outside St Oswald’s church but after a small cut from the lawn mower blade, Fred falls unwell.
Meanwhile, a heavily pregnant mother who is a maternity model is hugely excited for her newborn to follow in her footsteps, with a booking already confirmed for later that summer as a mother-and-baby duo. But her plans are thrown into turmoil when her newborn baby is diagnosed with bilateral hip dysplasia. The diagnosis means that her baby faces many months of wearing a heavy body brace to correct the congenital hip condition. The Nonnatus team, especially Rosalind (Natalie Quarry), must dig deep to provide a great deal of personal support.
