Trixie (Helen George) deals with a complicated case involving a single mother who has recently been discharged from a psychiatric hospital.
An outbreak of gonorrhea sees Shelagh (Laura Main) and Miss Higgins (Georgie Glen) using the Council’s new tracing system to identify contacts for testing and treatment.
Elsewhere, at the homeless hostel, Cyril (Zephryn Taitte) and Rosalind (Natalie Quarry) volunteer together. Rosalind is moved to hear the personal story of one of the men at the hostel.
Later, the midwives and Nonnatus Family attend the Flower Festival where Violet (Annabelle Apsion) announces that she will not be retiring but continuing to serve them as their mayor for another year.
